“Your skin is your largest organ and as much as 60% of what you put onto your skin is absorbed into your body. Yet we tend to put things on our skin that we would not dream of consuming. At Organic Beauty we believe that nature has given us everything we need for growth, development and healing.”

More and more people these days are striving to live a healthier lifestyle. Whether that means eating healthier, exercising, buying organic produce, or just reducing our carbon footprint, we all want to feel like we are doing the best we can to take care of ourselves and the people we love.

In recent years, the beauty industry has joined the wellness trend by selling products with terms like “organic,” “natural” and even “chemical-free”. The question then becomes, what do these terms actually mean regarding cosmetics?

What does “Organic” cosmetics/makeup really mean?

Organic ingredients (or natural ingredients) are ingredients which have been harvested without the use of synthetic chemical compounds, in other words they include only natural vegetable origin raw Why Use Organic Makeup Brandsmaterials grown without chemicals.

The active ingredients derived are produced using natural and environmental-friendly procedures such as cold pressing methods.

When referring to cosmetics; the active ingredients would be produced from natural components of plants and flowers that do not result in skin irritation, allergies or toxic overload. Ingredients which have been certified organic by one of the many certifying institutions.

In addition, organic cosmetics are proven far better for the environment and can, in point of fact, be good for your skin. Their properties to moisturize, smooth and rejuvinate your skin gently are among the most important advantages of organic cosmetics.

Not All Organic Makeup Brands Are Created EqualWhy Use Organic Makeup Brands

In the beauty industry, there is no industry-standard for terms like ‘organic’ or ‘natural’. Unlike the food industry, these terms are not regulated for cosmetics which means companies can use these terms very loosely.

This makes it hard for people to decipher what all this means and if there really are any benefits to natural or organic beauty products.

There are many so called organic beauty products sold daily that are being misrepresented. Many of them include synthetic ingredients, and these are exactly the kinds of ingredients they claim they don’t include.

Not only are they not organic, but they are also harmful to the skin of women using them. Containing horrifying ingredients that no one should be placing on their skin, these companies knowingly continue to allow their customers to buy and use their products touting the organic label!

Adding to the confusion is the fact that even though lots of cosmetic products actually do contain organic ingredients, they also may contain synthetic ingredients, so the term “organic” doesn’t apply to the entire formula.

We here at Organic Beauty truly care about the health and well-being of everyone who read our product reviews, and you can rest assured that all the products we review will always contain the most natural and organic ingredients that we use ourselves.

However you will have to take your own initiative and look at labels and visit websites like ours Organic Makeup Reviewsto understand what companies really mean when using terms like organic and natural.

Read The Label

Science has now shown a new understanding of how the skin functions, revealing concerns about the possible long term effects due to the combination of chemicals used in cosmetics. Why Use Organic Makeup Brands

That’s why using certified organic cosmetics and skin care products is so important. So, when you’re shopping for your organic cosmetics, take a few moments and look at the list of ingredients. And don’t forget to look for the USDA Certified label right on the package.

These basic USDA guidelines are helpful ~

“100% Organic”—Must contain (excluding water and salt) only organically produced ingredients. Products may display the USDA Organic Seal and must display the certifying agent’s name and address.

“Organic”Must contain at least 95% organically produced ingredients (excluding water and salt). The remaining product ingredients must consist of nonagricultural substances approved on the National List of non-organically produced agricultural products that are not commercially available in organic form. Products may display the USDA Organic Seal and must display the certifying agent’s name and address.

“Made with organic ingredients”Must contain at least 70% organic ingredients and the label can list up to three of the organic ingredients or “food” groups on the principal display panel. For example, body lotion made with at least 70% organic ingredients (excluding water and salt) and only organic herbs may be labeled either “body lotion made with organic lavender, rosemary, and chamomile,” or “body lotion made with organic herbs.” These products are not permitted to display the USDA Organic Seal, but they must display the certifying agent’s name and address.

Are organic beauty products really better?

In a word YES!  There are some (very few) who say that natural or organic cosmetic products don’t really provide any added benefit for consumers, and are mostly not available at an affordable price. They continue to say that their finished products are functionally inferior to more mainstream products. These nay sayers have now have been mostly debunked, and it makes you wonder what their relationship actually was to the mainstream cosmetic industry.

The demand for organic cosmetics has grown at tremendous rates in recent years as people start to understand and see their benefits. And as the demand for these types of products continues to grow there have been amazing improvements in performance and resulting price reductions. As a whole organic makeup/cosmetics are now as effective or better, and less expensive in most cases than their mainstream non-organic counterparts.
